This traffic impact study was carried out for the proposed Qurm Environment Information Centre (QEIC) of Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs. The building consists of an auditorium with 157 seating capacity, a training and lecture room with 60-students capacity, an exhibition hall, laboratories and office spaces. The development site is located away from the primary road network and abutting to Qurm environment reserve. A?Shati Street (Qurm Corniche Road) provides the access to the development. The base traffic condition on adjacent road system was estimated by a traffic survey carried out on two normal working days. The main objectives of the study are summarized as follows: ? Evaluation of performance of affected road system by proposed development on background traffic condition at present and this process would identify the existing operational issues; ? Evaluation of the road network with background traffic plus generated traffic volumes at the time of the proposed development build-out and full occupancy; ? Comprehensive studies for parking demand/supply, internal traffic circulation and site accesses; ? Based on the results, the necessary measures, if required, will be recommended to mitigate the impact of the development traffic on the external network to restore satisfactory operating conditions acceptable to the relevant authorities.
