  • Project Number:

    1312

  • Project Country:

     Oman

  • Client Name:

     Muscat Municipality

  • Narrative Description of the Project:

The project is made up of six link roads (total about 45 km) within the rolling and mountainous terrain in the vicinity of Wadi Arbaeen near Quriyat. The link roas are inter-connecting and one of them connects to the main Quriyat-Sur Road near Quriyat Royal Camp (under construction). The link roads will provide service to several villages: 1. Link Road departing from Al Mazari and leading eastward to Qurayat ? Sur highway (17km) 2. Link Road to As Suwayh (8.5km) 3. Link Road to Alya (2.3km) 4. Link Road to As Qala?at (5.5km) 5. Link Road to Al Maghrah and Al Salefi (7km) 6. Link Road adjacent to the Royal Camp (5km). After acquiring topographic survey data and mapping, the road alignments were studied and designed to optimize earthworks. The roads were designed to "rural access road" as classified in Oman Highway Design Standards, 2010. Drainage structures comprise box culverts and floodways at selected locations. The design return period for the culverts is 25-years and in some cases less depanding on the importance of the location. The project is in Detail design stage.
