The project is located in Wilayat Al Amerat 20 km south of Muscat. The objective of the project is to provide Muscat with a certain degree of protections especially after the damages of two major cyclones Gunu and Phet. The project scheme includes the construction of 5 dams. Only B 15 dam was constructed while the others will be constructed later. B15 dam is a rockfill dam with a plastic concrete cut off wall extended in the embankment as a core. The dam length is 5,600 m and the maximum height is 23 m. The dam is provided with two service spillways and one emergency spillway, two bottom outlet and monitoring system.
