International mining compnay intends to open a quarry in a mountanious section of the Dhofar region. Access road needs to be constructed to reach the concession area for the quarrying of limestone. The services were carried out in two phases: - road corridor study (from Jan 2011 to Apr 2011) - tunnel study (Sept 2011 - Feb 2012)
1) Study of tentative alignments was carried out on digital mapping after having inspected the site through site visit to ascertain the general conditions of the mountains. In the scope it was included the study of three different corridors which were reduced to two after the site visit
2) In a second phase it was requested to study the pre-feasibility of a tunnel at the quarry location. Survey was carried out by means of remote controlled drone
3) Mechanical and electrical study for the provision of safety systems such as ventilation, lighting, fire figthing and others, were also carried out. Close coordination with the Client was made necessary, particularly for the definition of the required level of safety during the operations of the tunnel
4) Final reports including cost estimate were prepared for the two phases
