The proposed Qumayrah ? Hail al Khanabishah road, located in the al Dhahirah Region, connects to two of the existing asphalt paved roads of the secondary network leading respectively to Buraimi and to Sohar. Khalid Bin Ahmed & Sons LLC was awarded of the Design and Build Contract for this road portion and, upon Client?s direction, appointed Renardet S.A. & Partners as Design Consultant. The road is about 21 km long linking between the existing asphalt road from Qumayrah- Buraimi road to the asphalt road at the end of the Hail al Khanabishah village. A Type "A" junction connecting the project road to the existing road has been provided. The road runs through a terrain varying from rolling to mountainous with the central section about 5 km long having longitudinal gradient as steep as 10%. The road crosses several wadis where drainage structures have been provided. The road has been designed as an ?all weather road? with the exception of large wadi crossings where Floodways were used.
1) Study alternative alignments through aerial photographs and mapping and in accordance with the 2 different typological solutions (fair weather/all weather road)
2) Hydrology study and hydraulic design to determine the drainage structures
3) Design all necessary structures and other elements
4) Prepare design for Construction and Engineers cost estimate
